Monsoon Is Arriving Early - Here’s How to Stay One Step Ahead

Last Thursday, I stepped out expecting summer. Not just any summer, the kind that bakes your skin, makes the roads shimmer, and tempts you with iced lemon water. I even wore my lightest cotton kurta, sunscreen, and that stubborn optimism that it would be just another burning May afternoon.

But nature had other plans. Within minutes, the breeze shifted to cooler, sharper, and tinged with that unmistakable smell of wet earth. A crow screeched. I looked up. The sky, once cheerful and blue, cracked open into moody greys. And before I could find shelter… It rained.

Yes, it actually rained in May.

I stood there in disbelief and honestly, awe. But that moment also marked the beginning of something much bigger than an early shower.

Somewhere across the Pacific, the La Niña phenomenon had already begun cooling ocean temperatures. And here in India, the monsoon arrived early, bringing not just unexpected rain, but also a wave of allergies, low immunity, respiratory discomfort, and flu-like symptoms, weeks before we usually brace ourselves for them.

But instead of dreading the rain, I’m switching things up this year with preventive care seriously and preparing my body and home with a few daily rituals. Here’s how I’m doing it and how you can, too.

1. The air feels fresh but full of unseen germs

Early rains feel soothing from the sun, but they also bring hidden allergy triggers. Sudden humidity and temperature drops make the air heavy with pollen, dust, mold, and pollution particles all ready to mess with your sinuses and breathing.

What I do:

  • I start my mornings with steam inhalation, adding 2–3 drops of Bibo Breathe Blend essential oil to open nasal passages and flush out allergens.
  • Before stepping out, I use Bibo Nasal Spray. It acts like a natural barrier, especially when I know the air feels dense or smoky.

2. Layering Up, even if It Feels Unwise

If this weather had a personality, it would be moody. One second, I’m sweating, the next shivering thanks to the whisper of wind.

What I carry:

  • A light scarf or jacket and specifically a mask.

  • Dry socks and an umbrella, even if the sky looks clear.

  • I keep sipping warm drinks like Tulsi tea or honey-ginger water. These keep my throat happy and my immune system in check.

3. Fixing Bedroom Air, Because You Sleep There

With damp walls, wet corners, and barely any sun, our rooms become breeding grounds for fungus and bacteria during the monsoon. Because that’s often where those random sniffles begin.

What I do:

  • Open windows in the morning for 15-30 minutes of fresh air.

  • Use a diffuser with clove or eucalyptus oil natural air purifiers that smell divine.

  • Dry everything thoroughly especially bedsheets and towels, even if it takes longer indoors.

 4. Don’t Wait to Catch a Cold

Most of us wait till the first sneeze to start “taking care.” But the body needs a head start  especially with La Niña bringing unpredictable rain and wind.

What’s helping me lately:

  • I take a spoon of Bibo Breathofy Syrup daily. It’s packed with nature’s best defenders and helps me feel balanced.

  • I eat seasonal fruits, ditch cold/stale food, and try to stick to warm, homemade meals.

  • Oh and sleep on time. Seriously, that alone changed so much.

Every year, I used to say, “I wish I’d started sooner” usually while blowing my nose and skipping work or college.

But not this time.

This time, I’m letting nature heal, not harm. I’m choosing small, mindful rituals that keep me and my family safe and healthy, so we can actually enjoy the beauty of the monsoon without any difficulty.

Because prevention doesn’t just save our breath — it saves our entire season.

Be monsoon ready. Naturally. With Bibo.
